Filling our new ‘Emerging artists Breakout Young Band’ slot is alternative rock band from Monmouth, Outrun The Rain! A vibrant young band from Monmouth, making waves with their own unique sound.
Formed in the serene countryside of South Wales, Outrun The Rain began in the middle of nowhere, in a barn on a farm, just a few miles from the Live on the Wye festival.Embracing the duality of their sound, brothers Rory and Ewan Bredemear-Walters, with their school friend drummer, Noah Ryder, shift from the realms of raw, unbridled rock energy to the polished sheen and infectious hooks of contemporary indie music. The result is an explosive sound which transcends genres, appealing to rock purists and indie pop enthusiasts alike.
With a DIY ethos, they write, record, and produce their own music from their bedrooms, taking inspiration from artists like Queens of the Stone Age, Royal Blood and Muse. From the countless pandemic lockdowns emerged the band’s debut single ‘Overload’, described as “epic but soulful” by Adam Walton, on his Radio Wales BBC Introducing show. In the weeks following, they released an unapologetically raw and authentic debut EP ‘Nothing Else at the Edge’.Recently, the band released another single ‘Tell Me What You Think I’m Not’, a track with an epic balance of indie artfulness and intense guitar riffs. ‘Tell Me What You Think I’m Not’ went on to be played on the BBC Radio Wales Introducing show and has become one of the band’s most popular tracks.
